This Sunday marked the end of the fourth and final day of the Crozon Foil Festival with Surf Foil and Downwind Foil.
Under a stunning sunrise at La Palue beach, the finals of the surf foil competition revealed internationally renowned talents. With wave conditions deemed “incredible” by many foreign competitors, the event showcased top-tier performances.
From the quarterfinals onward, the level of competition, both for men and women, reached impressive heights, with increasingly spectacular aerial maneuvers. Hawaiian, Australian, and Tahitian surfers made it to the finals, but ultimately it was Keoni Van Der Bij from southwestern France who triumphed in the men’s division. In the women’s category, Hawaiian Gabriella Eliah Bella brilliantly won the competition by strategically selecting the best waves, outperforming her French competitors. Results.

In the afternoon, the competitions continued with a downwind foil event, where participants benefited from improved conditions compared to the first day of the competition. Starting from Telgruc beach and finishing at Morgat harbor, the race featured stronger winds and bigger waves, giving an advantage to lighter athletes. French multi-discipline champion Clément Colmas triumphed in the men’s category, while Gabriella Eliah Bella reaffirmed her dominance by also winning this event in the women’s category. Local and French athletes demonstrated their mastery of light wind conditions, while Hawaiian, Australian, and southern competitors faced more difficulties. Nonetheless, all competitors gained valuable experience, proving that even in light winds, this sport holds great potential.
