This Saturday, Morgat Harbor enthusiastically welcomed the very first Crozon Foil Festival, highlighted by a breathtaking pumping foil competition. This unprecedented event brought together world-renowned athletes from all corners of the globe. Spectators gathered in large numbers by the water, captivated by the festive atmosphere and a spectacle worthy of a world championship. Among the competitors were talents from Hawaii, the United States, Australia, Tahiti, and numerous European countries, each bringing their unique style to this historic event.
The men’s competition was particularly intense, featuring ten heats where five competitors launched from adjacent pontoons on small boards equipped with foils. The goal was clear: pump using their legs to reach a buoy and return as quickly as possible, showcasing spectacular and sometimes unexpected artistic moves for the audience. In the women’s category, five participants also demonstrated remarkable skill, delighting the crowd with their agility and daring.
At the end of an exhilarating day, it was the two Haumani brothers and Naumi Eychenne from Tahiti who triumphed, taking the top spots on the podium. But beyond the results, it was the cool yet dry weather, the lively musical atmosphere led by our master of ceremonies, and above all, the shared emotions between spectators and participants that defined this world premiere in Crozon.
The Crozon Foil Festival was praised for its ability to introduce an innovative and exciting sport to the region, sparking joy and enthusiasm among all participants despite the fierce competition. This day will be remembered as a celebration of sportsmanship and international camaraderie.
